25 Posing Ideas for Groups & Families

Make sure to get everyone close together, arms around each other in this pose.

Get creative with this pose of the family members’ hands popping out from the person in front.

Lie down on the ground and have the family or group huddle over you for this fun portrait.

Perfect for a couch or a hammock, this pose is perfect for families.

Have the group sit on the ground. This pose is great for any number of family members who can fit around between the parents.

Change up the grouping up the subjects. Photograph all the girls, and then all the guys. Notice how their arms are wrapped around each other, and how the two on each side are facing inward.

Here’s a great composition, as well as an idea for the kids to be silly with a frown on their face while the parents grin.

Another all-girl shot, lounging on the floor.

Try a shot with the entire group posing with their arms crossed.

This pose is the entire family sitting on the ground with their legs folded or arms wrapped around their legs.

This pose just changes how the group is sitting.

In this pose, the family is giving thumbs up with some standing and some on the ground.

Here’s a fun pose that gets everyone close enough together to get everyone in the same shot.

This is an example of standing everyone from shortest to tallest, and also facing the same direction. You could have them crossing their arms, hands on their sides, or hands in their pockets.

Here’s a pose perfect for a family of three.

This family pose has the boys in the middle and the girls on the outside.

In this pose the boys are on the outside and the girls are on the inside.

Another great pose for a family of three, with the parents on the outside and the kid in the middle with their arms around their parents.

Striking a silly family pose!

Another great pose for shooting on a couch.

Have everyone lie on their stomach for this pose. Try snapping photos with them all looking at the camera, or maybe have one looking at the parents.

While standing, have them all turn the other way, then just rotate the top of their body to look at you.
