Part of the passive income life is affiliate sales. What is an affiliate? An affiliate is someone who sells a product, but doesn’t work for the company that creates the product. Affiliates do the effort to make the sale, and get a cut of the profits. Most online companies have affiliates. Look at the bottom of the website with the terms and conditions, about, and contact links, and you will often see an ‘affiliate’ link for those interested in becoming an affiliate for the product. The way affiliates make money is by getting a unique web url for a product and sending it out to their contacts (friends, family, colleagues, etc.). When someone clicks on the unique link and follows through with a purchase, the company rewards the affiliate with a portion of the sale. Many bloggers and online entrepreneurs do this. Some are open and honest that they’re an affiliate making money from your purchases, others aren’t. I believe being open and honest about it is the best thing to do. I only am an affiliate to things I believe in and believe will benefit you the reader.
All of that being said, this is an invitation for you to be an affiliate for my courses. By being an affiliate, you’ll make 50% of the profit for each course. For example, my Video Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro course is $39. If you sell this course, you’ll make $19.50. Not bad for sending a link out to your friends and family.
I sell all of my courses through Udemy, as most of you probably know. It is a wonderful platform that allows instructors like me to create high quality content and sell online. Go to www.udemy.com/affiliate and fill out the application. In the section for ‘How do plan on promoting Udemy,’ just put how you’ll be selling the courses. Will you be emailing friends and family? Will you be posting on your Facebook? Once you submit your application, you’ll have to wait 4-7 days to become approved.
Here is the Find feature. Just search for my name and you’ll find my courses.
The list of courses isn’t organized that well (it is just a long list in no particular order). To find my courses, use the word finder tool. On a Mac, press command-F, and on a PC, press control-F. This will pop open a little search bar. Type my last name into the box, ‘ebiner’. You’ll see a number of results pop up in the find tool. In your browser, you’ll see one of my courses. Click the down or next button to go to my next course. See images for reference. If you can’t find one of my courses to sell, please let me know.
To the right of each course in the affiliate market is your unique url. Use this url when sending it out to your contacts. This url is unique to you. If someone purchases the course after clicking through your link, Udemy will know that you did the work to get the sale, and you will be rewarded with 50% of the sale. You’ll get paid at the end of the month.
I know this was a long and maybe confusing post. So please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, once you join the Udemy affiliate program, you can sell any of the courses on the Udemy marketplace. There are hundreds to choose from and the possibility of earning a nice passive income is there for you.
Cheers!
