Sony A7S ii vs. A7R ii | Camera Comparison for Photo and Video Shooters

Here’s Video School Online’s first camera comparison video. Sam Shimizu-Jones and I got together to chat about the Sony A7S ii and Sony A7R ii mirrorless cameras.

Sam purchased both, starting with the A7R ii. He used it as a second camera as the videographer for Major Lazer on a leg of their world tour. While he really loved the photography capabilities, the low light video was a little week. So he purchased the Sony A7S ii, which has a completely different sensor. He loves the A7S ii as his second camera (to his Sony F7).

Which is better?

Watch the video to hear more details, but in the end Sam likes the A7S ii for anyone that wants to do video, especially in low light situations. The Sony A7R ii is great for photographers who also want to be able to shoot great video (4k resolution, slow motion stuff, etc.).
