Great Headphones for Video Editors – Sony 7506

I’ve tried a few different pairs including the ultra-cheap Sennheiser HD 202‘s which you can find on Amazon for close to $20. This pair is decent when you’re in a bind and can’t afford anything else – but after a few hours my ears would start hurting. I also where glasses when I’m sitting in front of a computer screen, so these headphones + my glasses weren’t good at all.

At one point, I had a pair of Bose headphones that were like clouds on my ears. But those I got for free from a friend, and I couldn’t afford a pair on my own.

But now, I’ve found a great substitute that are comfortable, have great sound, and are relatively inexpensive: Sony 7506 (Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphones)

I started using these at my new job, and they’ve been great. They’re not noise-canceling like Bose headphones, but they do a decent job silencing the outside world. They’re rugged – meaning I don’t worry too much about taking them on and off. The cord is long – like 9 feet long – but is coiled so it doesn’t get in the way.

If you buy them new on Amazon, it comes in a nice box with a soft case and an adaptor for full microphone jack.

I’ve put my stamp of approval on this pair of headphones. Professionals use them in many industries including sound design, music recording, and film production. You’ll see these in studios across the country.
